According to estimates by the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia (AMDPR), in 2024, domestic companies produced approximately 98 million pieces and earned approximately 538 billion rubles. After rapid growth in 2022, the growth rate slowed to 2% in volume terms in 2024. Furniture production in value terms grew primarily due to price increases.
The Russian furniture market is expected to show a similar trend in 2025. Among the reasons are falling demand for new construction, rising key rates, and reduced availability of consumer lending. What other trends will shape the situation this year? We discuss them in this news article.
As we've already noted, production volumes continue to grow, but not as strongly as in 2022. As Alexander Shestakov, President of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Suppliers of Furniture, notes, in April 2025, furniture production amounted to 41.1 billion rubles, a growth rate of 1.8%. In terms of physical output, April saw a decline of almost 7%.
Why is market growth slowing? It's due to the key rate at 21% and inflation at nearly 10%. Manufacturers expected an increase in furniture production costs and final product prices at the beginning of 2025, according to Stroygazeta. Furthermore, the mass preferential mortgage program has ended. People are postponing apartment and furniture purchases or choosing budget-friendly alternatives.
Despite everything, companies are opening new production facilities and sites: for example, in 2024, the First Weaving Factory opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Atlant Wood LLC launched a site in the Leningrad Region, and Askona launched a furniture hypermarket in Voronezh.
However, the aforementioned factors are driving the active development of the low-cost segment. Consumers are focusing their furniture selection on price. Manufacturers are expanding their product ranges with affordable product lines or launching their own private labels. For example, Yandex Market launched the Pragma home goods brand last year. At the end of 2024, the First Furniture Factory launched a line of upholstered furniture under the 1MF brand, as reported by Retail.ru.

Digitalization and the development of e-commerce have been trends for the past few years. According to the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT), furniture and home goods were among the top three most popular products by online sales volume in the first half of 2024. Marketplaces are actively developing, but according to Ozon, demand there is for furniture priced under 50,000 rubles. New mobile apps are emerging: according to Go Mobile analysis, one in two consumers will purchase furniture through them in the first half of 2024.
Furniture manufacturers are also trying to establish partnerships with developers through the sale of fully or partially furnished apartments, as well as vouchers for furniture stores. Samolet Plus predicts that by 2025, the share of furniture sales through developers will increase from 7% to 12-15%.
Last but not least, the trend is growing furniture sales in the regions. According to Express-Obzor, the top regions for sales growth include Crimea, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Tyva, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and Khabarovsk Krai. Some regions have even seen an increase in apartment construction (for example, by 3% in the Tyumen Region and by 1% in the Sverdlovsk Region), which is also having a positive impact on the furniture market in these regions.
Thus, in 2025, the Russian furniture market will be in a moderate development stage. While it is not experiencing rapid growth, its dependence on imports continues to decline, digital infrastructure is strengthening, and new cooperation and sales formats are emerging.
