What to expect for the Russian furniture market in 2026?

Moderate growth in production, online sales, capsule solutions, and other furniture market trends.

Moderate growth in production, online sales, capsule solutions, and other furniture market trends.

AMDPR reports Russian furniture production rose 1.1% year-on-year in 2025 to 98 million units. After rapid growth in 2022, the pace has since slowed. Furniture production in value terms grew 4.9% to 547.6 billion rubles, driven mainly by price increases rather than volume.

The Russian furniture market is expected to show a similar trend in 2026.

Among the reasons are falling demand for new construction, rising key rates, and reduced availability of consumer lending. What other trends will shape the situation this year? We discuss them in this news article.

1. Production volumes are growing, but moderately

As we've already noted, production volumes continue to grow, but not as strongly as in 2022. As Alexander Shestakov, President of AMDPR, notes, monthly furniture production in 2025 showed steady value growth alongside fluctuations in physical output.

Why is market growth slowing?

It's due to rates that remain elevated even after coming down from their 2025 peak, the key rate has fallen from 21% to 14% through 2026. Manufacturers expected an increase in furniture production costs and final product prices moving into 2026, according to Stroygazeta. Furthermore, the mass preferential mortgage program has ended. People are postponing apartment and furniture purchases or choosing budget-friendly alternatives.

Despite everything, companies are opening new production facilities and sites: for example, recent industrial expansions include the First Weaving Factory in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Atlant Wood LLC's site in the Leningrad Region, and Askona launched a furniture hypermarket in Voronezh in September 2024.

2. Consumers look first at prices

However, the aforementioned factors are driving the active development of the low-cost segment. Consumers are focusing their furniture selection on price. Manufacturers are expanding their product ranges with affordable product lines or launching their own private labels.

For example, Yandex Market launched the Pragma home goods brand, and the First Furniture Factory launched a line of upholstered furniture under the 1MF brand, as reported by Retail.ru.

3. More online sales

Digitalization and the development of e-commerce have been trends for the past few years. According to the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT), furniture and home goods remain among the top most popular products by online sales volume.

Marketplaces are actively developing, but according to Ozon, demand there is for furniture priced under 50,000 rubles. New mobile apps are emerging: according to Go Mobile analysis, consumers increasingly prefer purchasing furniture directly through mobile applications.

4. Hand in hand with real estate

Furniture manufacturers are also trying to establish partnerships with developers through the sale of fully or partially furnished apartments, as well as vouchers for furniture stores. Samolet Plus predicts that through 2026, the share of furniture sales through developers will continue to increase toward 12-15%.

5. Attention to the regions

Last but not least, the trend is growing furniture sales in the regions. According to Express-Obzor, the top regions for sales growth include Crimea, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Tyva, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and Khabarovsk Krai.

Some regions have even seen an increase in apartment construction (for example, in the Tyumen Region and the Sverdlovsk Region), which is also having a positive impact on the furniture market in these regions.

Thus, in 2026, the Russian furniture market will be in a moderate development stage. While it is not experiencing rapid growth, its dependence on imports continues to decline, digital infrastructure is strengthening, and new cooperation and sales formats are emerging.
